On Tuesday night we had the rare opportunity to meet and dine with Master Chef Albert Roux, one of Europe’s most known and influential chefs. Chef Roux visits his namesake restaurant, Chez Roux, about 3 times a year, and we were lucky enough to be invited during one of his visits. The atmosphere was upscale dining at its best, and the food certainly highlighted Chef Roux’s culinary expertise.
Nestled on the scenic La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa, Chez Roux offers fine dining as well as an exquisite and well crafted menu. We were warmly greeted as we walked in, and the entire service that night was very attentive and extremely professional. We walked along a beautifully lit glass wine cellar and seated at a table that offered an exceptional view of the lake.
Chef Roux immediately introduced himself and sat to share a little more about the restaurant and the dishes of the evening. We couldn’t wait to taste what was to come, and it was such an honor to sit with UK’s first chef to earn three Michelin Stars…not to mention voted most influential chef of the country!!!
The most memorable dish of the night was the cheddar souffle — truly decadent and amazing! Buttery, the sharpness of the cheddar, creamy silkiness of the the sauce….. I have never tasted anything quite like it. Chef Roux has been featuring it on his menu since 1965 – and it is definitely tried and true.
I know Conroe may be a drive for some Houstonians, but Chez Roux is definitely worth it! (Not to mention, you can stay the weekend at the resort)
