Fat Cat Creamery, a Houston ice cream parlor, is one of those gems you are SO glad you stumbled upon. I found out about Fat Cat while I was ordering an Affogato at Boomtown Coffee. When I ordered the cashier exclaimed, “Great choice, the ice cream is from Fat Cats down the street and it’s good”.
Hmm – I was intrigued. We didn’t go that day, but the next time we ventured to Vinal Edge for some records we stopped on in.
The shop is tiny and quaint and the flavors are SO GOOD. The ice cream is hand made small batch right there in the shop. They source local ingredients and to top it off, they have adorable cat decor all over the place.
The flavors are inventive, unique and so darn good. Year round flavors are:
- Mexican Vanilla
- Waterloo Strawberry Buttermilk
- Chai Tea Coconut (dairy free)
- Amaya Coffee and Cream
- Milk Chocolate Stout
And then they rotate in seasonal flavors – which change daily, like
- Salted Caramel
- Ultimate Chocolate
- Whiskey Buttered Pecas
- and more! check the site or call to see what’s on the board today.
The toppings are simple, but perfect: salted almonds, toasted coconut among others. They also have soft serve, sundaes, malts, shakes and floats. This place is just the best, seriously, GO THERE NOW.
They also made the 2015 Thrillist Best Ice Cream in America list. They aren’t messing around.
(side note on the Thrillist list, they left off Lappert’s, in Sausalito, CA – which is a HUGE mistake)
